More than 160,000 hectares of coca leaf, 236 municipalities with the presence of criminal exploitation, 150 trails through which thousands of gallons of gasoline and tons of smuggled food enter from Venezuela into Colombia, and, close to four routes through which people are trafficked, makes Colombia a nodal point for organized crime and illegal market operations centers. This criminal dynamic, as expected, is accompanied by all forms of organized crime: illegal armed groups such as the ELN guerrillas; criminal structures of transnational scope such as the group called Clan del Golfo; criminal structures of regional scope such as La Empresa that operates in the port of Buenaventura; and local structures as violent youth groups.
